Darcy Morris on The Mark Faris Experience

Darcy Morris didn’t set out to start an investment firm at 30. He thought you had to wait your turn- put in the years, pay the dues, and eventually, when the time was right, make your move. Then he heard something at an MBA commencement speech that changed the calculation entirely.

Darcy grew up in Toronto, played hockey at a high level, and found his way onto a Bay Street trading floor at 15 through a cold letter his mother pushed him to write. By the time he and John Ewing launched Ewing Morris in 2011, he had spent years learning how great investment firms were built- and forming a clear view of what he’d do differently.

In this episode of The Mark Ferris Experience, Darcy talks about the origin of the firm, the early days of scraping together capital and earning trust, and the principle that has guided every decision since: build something you’d want to be a client of yourself.

“Pick a 10-year goal. You can do anything in 10 years. And the irony is- if you work towards it, it happens a little bit quicker.”
